Can money buy happiness? Nah, no way, how could it?

Michael Norton suggests that people are simply spending their money incorrectly, “Spending on other people has a bigger return for you than spending on yourself.” Michael Norton

The associate Harvard professor and Marvin Bower Fellow justifies this theory through various case studies and explains that the utility gained from personal spending almost never outweighs that of gifted spending.

We challenge you to test this theory for yourself. DonorsChoose.org is an online charitable organization that supports classrooms in need and donors are able to choose where their money goes. Purchase anything from a set a reading books to dry erase boards for a classroom in need. At this very same time, spend an equivalent amount of money on yourself, dinner, clothing, etc… and determine for yourself what made you happier.

Good Luck!
